For fiction authors, the Road Map will uncover the 12 waypoints of your story. It’s all you need to start writing your novel (if you’re a pantser) or creating your detailed outline (if you’re a plotter).

Also included: my book Getting Your Book Out of the Someday Box in your favorite digital format.

Finally writing that novel you’ve always known you had in you? The Road Map will identify and define the 12 waypoints every novel’s story must include. If you’re used to writing by the seat of your pants, you’re ready to start writing as soon as you have the Road Map in hand. If you work best from an outline and beat sheet, the Road Map is the perfect foundation for those tools.

My goal is to get you writing as quickly as possible and produce the highest quality book you’re capable of producing. I’ll do that by keeping these promises: I’ll deliver far more than you thought possible, care more about your book than you expect, and give you the courage to get your book out of the “someday” box.

Once we’ve clearly established that you’re writing the right book for the right people for the right reason, I can also provide ongoing guidance to get from here to there (“there” being your book in your hands—and on Amazon, among other places) For the 3-5 months it normally takes to get a book from idea to reality, the cost is $1,000 per month. Your book will be complete, and as a book shepherd, I’ll guide you through the steps to turn your book into another stream of revenue, another source of business.

Don’t take my word for it. Here’s what clients have said:

It provided more clarity for me and showed me that with a lot of work and their guidance, I could publish my book in 4-6 months. I never considered when I first reached out to them that the process could go that quickly, but their accountability and systems in place have made it possible.

I was confused and frustrated. They said that with their help I would have a book self-published in six months. Well, they took me by the hand and put up with my phone calls and emails requesting all kinds of stuff.

Throughout the years he has maintained the same professional ethics and razor sharp ability and keen passion for assisting new authors in getting their manuscript finished and published. Yet he is realistic in his advice for helping authors understand the intricate challenges in the publishing industry.

Without Joel’s help my dream would not have become a reality. His enthusiasm for the story and for Ireland was irresistible. He told me he was going to shepherd me through the process and that is what he did. I had no idea you could shepherd velociraptors.

Having access to someone who knows both sides, the writing and the business, makes a big difference.

In the back of my mind, I always wanted to write a book; Joel was able to somehow tap into this latent desire and provide me with the tools to turn it into a reality.

When I finally decided to write the book Joel showed me how simply it could be done. With his coaching I put one foot in front of the other and took the steps to getting it done. My book was finished in 6 weeks!

He brought my project to fruition, keeping me motivated and focused from start to finish. Joel was consistent, reliable, understanding, pleasant and had genuine passion for my project.

If you’d like to talk to any of these people I’m delighted to put you in touch.

And if you have questions or concerns or outright doubts, let’s talk. Let me show you what I can do for you and for your writing.

Everyone has a book in them. Let’s get yours out of your someday box.

I always wanted to write books, so that’s the desire. I don’t know how to motivate myself so that I don’t sabotage my purposeful momentum.

The best part of the road map I received yesterday is when Joel wrote: “Your primary goal should be to establish an unbreakable writing habit. If you create a habit it won’t matter if you’ve finished the book during this time or how much progress you’ve made. Creating a habit which you can sustain will get your book done.” I think he’s absolutely right about that and I am endeavoring to create that new permanent habit by writing every morning upon waking.

The Natural Method to Raise a Child Who’ll Eat Anything–Bananacondas

I originally reached out to Joel and Sue Canfield in November of 2012 because my mentor and colleague had just finished publishing a book with their help, and I was curious about the process. I also had a few ideas for a book that I wanted to run by them. We exchanged emails, then had a call, and then they sent me the Road Map for exploring the process of writing my book.

It provided more clarity for me and showed me that with a lot of work and their guidance, I could publish my book in 4-6 months. I never considered when I first reached out to them that the process could go that quickly, but their accountability and systems in place have made it possible. I’m excited for our book to be published this year and to start on the next one!
